Curwin Bosch says he is returning to South Africa as a more mature player who now embraces pressure rather than fearing it.
The former Sharks flyhalf will join the Vodacom Bulls in July on a three-year deal after two seasons with French club Brive.
Once regarded as one of South Africa’s brightest young talents, Bosch admits his time in France changed his outlook on the game.
“As far as my rugby is concerned, I’ve definitely become much more mature mentally and tactically,” Bosch told Netwerk24.
The 28-year-old described his spell at Brive as an important chapter in his career and stressed that he is not returning because things did not work out in France.
“It was an incredible experience.
“There will always be pressure when you’re a professional player, but it feels different now. It no longer feels like life or death or like a burden. I enjoy the pressure.”

Bosch burst onto the scene as a schoolboy star and represented SA Schools and SA U20 before earning two Test caps for the Springboks.
But he admits the weight of expectation was sometimes difficult to handle during his eight-year stint in Durban.
“For me, it always felt like people expected too much from me.
“That was the only environment I knew during my time at the Sharks. Now my perspective has changed.”

Bosch arrives at Loftus to bolster the Bulls’ flyhalf stocks following the retirement of Johan Goosen and will compete with the likes of Handré Pollard and fellow new recruit Luan Giliomee for the No 10 jersey.
