Bulls boss backs Bosch to shine at Loftus

Vodacom Bulls CEO Edgar Rathbone believes Curwin Bosch will arrive at Loftus later this year as a more mature and battle-hardened player.

The former Sharks playmaker was one of several high-profile signings announced by the Bulls this week after agreeing to join the Pretoria outfit from French club Brive.

Bosch left South Africa in 2024 after signing for Brive, where he has spent the past two seasons in France’s Pro D2.

Known for his tactical kicking game and goal-kicking accuracy, Bosch gives the Bulls another experienced option at flyhalf and fullback.

Rathbone believes the 28-year-old has grown significantly since his departure from Durban.

“Curwin was a schoolboy prodigy and got his Bok cap very early, but players like him tend to mature later in their careers,” Rathbone told News24.

“A change of environment has been good for him, and I spoke a bit to Ed Coetzee, who was his CEO at Brive, and they were heavily impressed with him.

“He’s also now married, so I think we’re getting a different Curwin Bosch coming back to South Africa.

“We’ve seen how different players can be with a change of environment.”

Rathbone also believes Bosch remains good enough to force his way back into the Springbok picture.

“He can still play for the Springboks because he’s a quality player. We hope that Curwin’s performances will get him back into the Bok mix,” he said.
