Google just revealed Gemini Intelligence, a major Android AI upgrade that goes far beyond a simple chatbot. Instead of treating AI as a separate feature, Google is building it directly into Android so it can handle tasks across apps, websites, and devices automatically.
App Automation connects multiple apps together
One of the most ambitious additions is Auto Browse, a feature that lets Gemini control Chrome and complete multi-step tasks automatically.
Instead of manually searching across tabs, Gemini can compare options, gather information, and help complete actions.

Examples include:
- Finding a textbook in Gmail and automatically adding it to a shopping cart
- Scanning a travel flyer and asking Gemini to find similar tours online
- Searching for food delivery while comparing ride costs at the same time
At launch, Google says support will mainly focus on food delivery, grocery shopping, and ride-hailing apps.
This is a major shift because Android assistants have traditionally been limited to simple commands. Gemini is now moving toward agentic AI,where the assistant can take actions instead of only answering questions.
Create My Widget turns prompts into Android widgets

Google is also using AI to simplify Android customization. The new Create My Widget feature lets users generate widgets using voice or text prompts.
You can say things like: “Create a weekly high-protein meal planner widget.” Gemini then builds the widget automatically using information from Google services or the web.
Users can also resize widgets and adapt them to Material Design themes automatically. For casual Android users, this may end up being one of the most practical AI additions in the entire update.
Rambler cleans up your voice typing automatically
Google’s Gboard keyboard is getting a surprisingly useful upgrade called Rambler.
The feature removes filler words like:
- “um”
- “uh”
- pauses
- verbal corrections
So a sentence like:
“Um… book uh… dinner for around 7…”
becomes:
“Book dinner for around 7.”
Google says Rambler also improves multilingual voice typing and corrects spoken mistakes more naturally.
Importantly, the company says audio and text data from Rambler won’t be stored.
Gemini can autofill complex personal data
Android is also getting a more advanced autofill system powered by what Google calls Gemini Personal Intelligence.
Instead of only remembering passwords or addresses, Gemini can now pull more complex information from Gmail, Drive, or Google Photos, including:
- Passport details
- Vehicle registration numbers
- Travel information
- Personal documents
Google says this system is opt-in, meaning users must enable it manually. Given growing concerns around AI privacy, this will likely become one of the most closely watched parts of the rollout.
Magic Pointer brings Gemini directly into laptops

Google also teased a new laptop category called Googlebook, and Gemini is deeply integrated into it.
One standout feature is Magic Pointer.
Users can wiggling the cursor to instantly open Gemini, then point at content on screen to get AI-powered suggestions and help.
Examples include:
- Pointing at a sofa image to find similar products
- Highlighting text for summaries
- Getting AI suggestions while browsing
The feature is expected to launch in fall 2026 alongside Googlebook devices.
Android Auto is getting AI-powered navigation
Cars are becoming part of Google’s AI ecosystem too.
The new Immersive Navigation update for Android Auto adds redesigned navigation alongside Gemini-powered car assistance.
Drivers can ask questions like:
“Is my check engine light serious?”
Gemini can then interpret diagnostic information and explain possible issues in plain language.
Google also confirmed support for video playback while parked on vehicles from brands including:
- BMW
- Ford
- Hyundai
- Kia
- Mercedes-Benz
- Volvo
Cast My Apps mirrors phone apps onto laptops
Google is also building a tighter connection between Android phones and laptops through Cast My Apps.
The feature works similarly to Apple’s iPhone mirroring system. Users can launch phone apps directly from a laptop taskbar and run them in floating windows without touching the phone itself. For students, remote workers, and creators, this could become one of the most practical ecosystem features Google has introduced in years.
Which Gemini Intelligence features are actually useful for you?
Casual Android users
The most useful upgrades are probably:
- Rambler voice cleanup
- Create My Widget
Both remove friction from everyday phone use without needing technical knowledge.
Shopping, travel, and deal hunters
The biggest upgrades here are:
- Auto Browse
- App Automation
These tools are designed to automate repetitive searching and comparison tasks.
Privacy-conscious users
Gemini Personal Intelligence is opt-in and protected using Private Compute Core systems. Still, many users will likely want tighter controls before trusting AI with personal documents and sensitive information.
Students and office workers
Features like Magic Pointer and Cast My Apps could make Android and Googlebook devices feel much more connected and productive.
Drivers
Immersive Navigation may become especially useful for people already relying heavily on Android Auto.
The hardware requirements may upset a lot of users

Not every Android phone will support Gemini Intelligence.
According to Android Authority, Google is requiring:
- At least 12GB RAM
- Flagship-level chips
- Gemini Nano v3 support
- Dedicated AI hardware support
That means many older Android devices — and even some surprisingly recent phones — may miss out entirely.
Reports suggest even devices like the Pixel 9 series and Galaxy Z Fold 7 may not fully support all Gemini Intelligence features.
Google says privacy controls are built into the system
According to Google’s announcement, privacy controls are built into the Gemini Intelligence system. Since Gemini can interact with apps, emails, documents, and browsing activity, privacy concerns are inevitable. The system follows three principles:
- Control – Users decide which apps Gemini can access.
- Protection – Sensitive processing runs through Private Compute Core (PCC) and private AI systems.
- Transparency – A new Privacy Dashboard will show AI activity history from the previous 24 hours.
Google also states that Gemini cannot complete purchases without explicit user confirmation.
When will Gemini Intelligence launch?
The rollout timeline currently looks like this:
- Summer 2026: Latest Pixel and Galaxy devices
- Late June 2026: Auto Browse on Android
- Fall 2026: Googlebook launch
- After 2026: Expansion to cars, smart glasses, watches, and laptops
Why this matters
For years, smartphone AI mostly meant voice assistants that answered questions poorly or set timers.
Gemini Intelligence is different because Google wants Android to do things for you on its own — like using apps, searching the web, understanding what you need, and getting tasks done.
Whether users trust that level of AI automation is another question entirely. But one thing is clear: Google is betting that the future of Android isn’t just smarter apps. It’s AI running the operating system itself.
