A star Boland Cavaliers player is set to be sidelined for an extended period.
Coach Hawies Fourie confirmed to Netwerk24 that flyhalf Juan Mostert dislocated his shoulder during their 24-14 defeat to Griquas in Wellington.
Boland are still waiting on the results of a scan but the 26-year-old is expected to be out of action for a while.
Mostert has been deadly as a goal-kicker in the SA Cup this season, missing only one attempt at goal in five matches.
The former Maties and Bulls pivot joined Boland last year from Rovigo Delta, who he helped win the Italian Serie A Elite title.
SA CUP: Griquas stay perfect as Pumas run riot
Mostert was injured early in the game against log-leaders Griquas and replaced by James Tedder, who played mostly fullback last season but has experience at No 10.
The injury is a massive blow to Boland, who are in a battle to qualify for the semi-finals and secure a place in the Currie Cup Premier Division.
After the weekend’s matches, unbeaten Griquas top the SA Cup standings with 25 points, followed by Pumas and SWD Eagles (both 22), and the Cheetahs (18). Boland are a further three points back in fifth.
