Search and recovery operations continued in the Maldives’ Vaavu Atoll after five Italian divers went missing during a deep cave dive near Alimathaa Island.

Images showed rescue teams and divers operating from boats at sea as the mission remained underway.
Authorities said the group disappeared while exploring an underwater cave system at depths of around 50 meters.
Officials later located bodies deep inside the cave after searches resumed following the death of a Maldivian military diver involved in the operation.
Finnish technical diving specialists assisting the mission were expected to help recover the bodies using advanced deep-diving equipment.
