Affies came from behind win to beat Paarl Boys’ High, while there were also wins for SACS, Grey High and Grey College to close out a weekend of top schools festival rugby.
The final match of the 2026 Wildeklawer Festival provided a fine finish, as Affies overturned a 23-5 half-time deficit to triumph 40-37 on Monday.
Boishaai dominated the first half, with tries from Liam de Villiers and Wian Delport giving them a healthy lead. Affies struggled to assert themselves but did get on the board through Dandre Brink.
The second half belonged to Affies. Ewald van Niekerk scored before sustained pressure led to a penalty try. Boishaai responded through Dante Davis, but Affies stayed in the contest. Rico du Plessis crossed to keep them in touch, although it appeared over when Boishaai prop Bates Winshaaw powered over to make it 37-26.
Tries from Fourie Roberts and Estian Marx completed the comeback and secured the victory for Affies.
In other Wildeklawer results, Grey College scored eight tries in a 54-14 win against Jeppe, while Corne Niemand grabbed a brace in Paarl Gimnasium’s 47-7 victory against DHS. Helpmekaar beat Queen’s College 73-36, and Paul Roos edged Oakdale Landbou 15-13.
At the Grey High School Rugby Festival, the hosts finished unbeaten after a 34-12 win against Glenwood. SACS scored five tries to come from behind and get the better of Kearsney 33-27, Rondebosch downed KES 29-12, and HTS Drostdy trounced Selborne College 67-12.
On day two of the Fairtree Sports Festival, Johrne Davis and Kobus de Beer both scored a brace of tries as Ben Vorster beat Randburg 50-12. Hoërskool Pietersburg defeated Tygerberg 47-10, while Fichardtpark edged Heidelberg Volkskool 8-5.
