Reinach blow for Stormers, Boks

Springbok scrumhalf Cobus Reinach is reportedly set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with a fellow Stormers back facing a similar fate.

According to Netwerk24, the 50-Test World Cup winner will be ruled out for up to three months following a knee injury in last week’s Vodacom URC win over Glasgow Warriors.

It is understood that centre Markus Muller could be out of action for six weeks after fracturing a finger on debut against Glasgow.

The news on Reinach casts doubt over his availability for the Nations Championship Tests against England, Scotland and Wales in July.

The 35-year-old’s injury may open the Bok door for the in-form Embrose Papier, while Rassie Erasmus can also recall Faf de Klerk and Jaden Hendrikse.

Stormers boss John Dobson will look to Imad Khan, Stefan Ungerer and veteran Dewaldt Duvenage to fill the No 9 jumper for the table-topping Capetonians’ final two rounds of the URC regular season.
