Contestants used vibrations, sounds and other unconventional techniques to lure worms out of the ground without digging, following rules designed to protect the animals.
The event, first held in 1984, also featured music, costumes and themed activities, drawing visitors and competitors from across the region.
Organisers said all worms were safely returned to the ground after being counted.
