Michaelhouse stunned Affies in Pretoria, while there were notable wins for Rondebosch and DHS in Saturday’s Easter rugby festivals action.

Pretoria Boys’ High 125th Anniversary Easter Rugby Festival
Michaelhouse delivered one of the standout performances of day one, overturning a half-time deficit to beat Affies 29-27.

It was a tightly contested throughout, with Affies taking a narrow lead into the break.

Tries from Reece Cole, Fabiano Fierro, Tian de Bruyn and Trezegeut Hawkins saw the KwaZulu-Natal side seal a famous win.

An Aya Mabuza hat-trick guided hosts Pretoria Boys’ High to a thrilling 35-34 win over SACS. The teams were level at 20-20 at half-time.

Joshua Kirby scored four tries as Rondebosch thrashed Selborne 57-17, while Grey High beat Parktown Boys’ 40-18 and Maritzburg College secured a 35-12 win over Jeppe.

St John’s College Easter Rugby Festival
Hilton College defeated Brisbane’s St Joseph’s Nudgee (who beat Grey College on day one) 17-12.

Graeme College earned a 39-26 win against Bishops.

The St Joseph’s Nudgee 2nd XV hammered St Benedict’s College 48-7, while Auckland’s Westlake Boys’ High beat Welkom Gim 36-26.

In other results, Monument beat Kingswood 43-27, Nelspruit edged St Alban’s 24-21 and St John’s beat a Golden Lions XV 24-19.

Sean Takaendisa’s brace proved decisive as St John’s College (Harare) edged Clifton College 22-18.

In other results, Northcliff scored seven tries in a 40-35 win over Windhoek, Hoërskool Pietersburg beat Hoërskool Middelburg 27-14, and Hartpury College ran out 47-18 winners against a Garsfontein Invitational XV.

Kearsney College Easter Rugby Festival
Hosts Kearsney College made it two from two, with Nhlanhla Ndlovu scoring twice in a 33-13 win over Transvalia.

Framesby responded to their 83-0 defeat to Westville with a 15-14 win against Glenwood.

DHS continued their strong form with a 38-7 win over Hoërskool Rustenburg. Cilermo Carolus scored twice, while Tanwil Onkers kicked four conversions.

In other results, Zimbabwe’s Peterhouse beat Milnerton 29-23, and Zwartkop overturned a half-time deficit to defeat EG Jansen 41-32.
