Seven South Africans featured in the match between the Kubota Spears and Mitsubishi Dynaboars in Tokyo, won 26-10 by the Spears. Lock Merwe Olivier dotted down for the Spears in the first half, with Ruan Botha and Lappies Labuschagne providing forward reinforcements and centre Rikus Pretorius coming off the bench. Prop Pieter Scholtz and locks Friedle Olivier and Gideon Koegelenberg played for the Dynaboars.
Jasper Wiese started at flank for the Urayasu D-Rocks in a 41-19 defeat to the Black Rams Tokyo.
Lock Lourens Erasmus and replacement hooker Schalk Erasmus ran out for the Toyota Verblitz in a 52-21 win against the Toshiba Brave Lupus in Aichi.

Cheslin Kolbe scored 14 points from the tee as the Suntory Sungoliath cruised to a 54-22 win against the Yokohama Canon Eagles in Tokyo.
