Flanker Arno Botha and lock Janse Roux packed down for Lyon in their 44-24 win against La Rochelle at the Stade Marcel-Deflandre. Former Stormers winger Dillyn Leyds started for La Rochelle.
Perpignan’s James Hall started at No 9 in a 37-31 defeat to Racing 92 in Nanterre. Former SWD Eagles prop Nemo Roelofse scrummed down at tighthead for Perpignan.
Investec Champions Cup holders Bordeaux Begles stormed to a 31-16 victory against strugglers Montauban. Three South Africans featured for Bordeaux – lock Tiaan Jacobs, centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg and replacement prop Carlu Sadie. JT Jackson started in midfield for Montauban.
