Rassie Erasmus has drafted Makazole Mapimpi into the squad for Saturday’s Rugby Championship clash against the Wallabies in Cape Town, as Siya Kolisi and Kurt-Lee Arendse were released due to injury.

Kolisi (knee) and Arendse (knee) both picked up knocks in the 38-22 defeat at Ellis Park and are expected to be sidelined for several weeks. While Erasmus is confident in the loose forward depth available, he has opted to reinforce his backline options by recalling the 47-Test veteran.
Mapimpi, a two-time Rugby World Cup winner, will link up with his teammates in Cape Town on Monday night and brings valuable experience to a back three already missing two of its most influential figures.
The 34-year-old’s recall comes at a pivotal time, with the Boks seeking a response to last week’s disappointment and eager to reignite their Rugby Championship campaign in front of a passionate Cape Town Stadium crowd.
