The Brumbies have locked in head coach Stephen Larkham, shutting down talk of a possible move to the All Blacks set-up.
The former Wallabies flyhalf has turned the Canberra-based franchise into Australia’s benchmark since taking over in 2022, and now he’s doubling down until the end of 2028.
“I’m really excited to continue working with this group of players,” said Larkham.
“We’ve built a squad with tremendous potential, and I want to help them develop and deliver rugby that the Canberra community can be proud of.”

The timing is no accident.
The Brumbies sit top of the Super Rugby table and have opened the 2026 campaign with three straight wins. That run includes a breakthrough victory over the Crusaders in Christchurch – their first there in 26 years – after ending a 12-year hoodoo at Eden Park against the Blues last season.
Brumbies chairman, and Larkham’s former Test teammate, Joe Roff made it clear how significant the extension is.
“Locking Steve down ahead of interest from other major suitors is a huge win for Canberra and the Brumbies,” said Roff.
“His commitment to the club ensures stability and allows us to continue building a high-performance environment with a clear long-term vision.”
