A key Glasgow Warriors player is in selection contention for Saturday’s Investec Champions Cup last-16 showdown with the Vodacom Bulls.
Glasgow captain Kyle Steyn suffered an ankle injury in Scotland’s final Six Nations match against Ireland.
There were initial fears that he could miss the Champions Cup clash at Scotstoun Stadium, as well as the team’s two-match Vodacom URC tour to South Africa.
However, Scotland Rugby News reports that the 32-year-old has made encouraging progress and trained with the squad this week.

Assistant coach Scott Forrest confirmed that the skipper’s recovery is ahead of schedule and he remains in contention for selection.
“Kyle Steyn is probably not as bad as first thought,” Forrest said. “This will be his first time back in a team session, so it’s about seeing how he reacts.
“If that goes well, he’ll hopefully be involved across the next two weeks. That’s better news than we expected at the end of the Six Nations.”

Forrest added that while Steyn had been wearing a protective boot, it was largely precautionary as he continued his rehabilitation.
Glasgow top the URC standings after 14 rounds and will face the Lions at Ellis Park on 18 April and the Stormers at Cape Town Stadium on 25 April.
