France will be without one of their livewire loose forwards for Saturday’s Six Nations finale against England.
Oscar Jegou will miss the championship decider after being banned for four matches for eye contact on a Scotland player.
The 22-year-old flanker was sanctioned on Wednesday after a disciplinary hearing found him guilty of “reckless contact with the eye(s)” during France’s 50-40 defeat at Murrayfield last week.
Jegou had started all four of France’s matches in this year’s championship and even crossed for a late try in the thriller against Scotland.

However, the incident that landed him in trouble occurred in the 59th minute when he reached across a maul and made contact with the face of Scotland hooker Ewan Ashman – an offence match officials initially missed.
The Six Nations disciplinary committee later ruled that the offence warranted a red card.
Jegou was handed a six-match suspension, but the ban was reduced to four matches because of his “good disciplinary record” and the fact the incident did not result in any lasting injury.
France will almost certainly need to beat England to retain their Six Nations title following the defeat in Edinburgh.
