Angelo Davids says he’s enjoying early life at the Lions and hopes to make a big impact as the Vodacom URC progresses.
The winger swapped the blue and white of the Stormers for the red of the Lions in the off-season after limited game time in the Cape, often having to compete with Leolin Zas, Suleiman Hartzenberg, Seabelo Senatla and Ben Loader for a starting spot.
He says it was important for him to make the switch.
“I think mentally I needed a change. I’ve been blessed to get the opportunity to come to the Lions and I’ve settled in quite nicely. The team has made it so easy for me to do what I need to do, and obviously that’s to play rugby and enjoy myself.”
Davids says he hopes to be in the reckoning when the Lions travel to the Mother City over the festive season to take on the Stormers at Cape Town Stadium.
“I can’t wait, to be honest with you, it’s going to be a good one. But for now I just need to focus on the next match.”

The 26-year-old former Blitzbok was a big part of the Lions’ Currie Cup campaign, scoring four tries in a 60-12 semi-final mauling of the Boland Cavaliers at Ellis Park. He finished with eight tries in nine matches.
The Lions began the URC season with a disappointing 33-20 defeat to Cardiff last weekend and will hope to set things right against Zebre in Parma on Sunday.
