The Vodacom Bulls have fought off a major raid from the Stormers to secure the long-term future of a Springbok forward.
After weeks of negotiations and strong interest from the Stormers, Rapport claims the Pretoria-based club has managed to keep Cobus Wiese in blue for another three years.
The 28-year-old had been a prime target in Cape Town, with the Stormers looking to bolster their second-row stocks ahead of Ruben van Heerden’s move to French club Montpellier later this year.
But Loftus Versfeld will remain Wiese’s home.

The Upington-born forward, younger brother of Springbok No 8 Jasper Wiese, made his Test debut off the bench against Italy in Gqeberha in July last year and another appearance against Georgia in Mbombela a week later.
The powerful lock has also remained firmly in the national selectors’ sights, largely due to his versatility. While he primarily functions as a No 4 lock, he’s equally capable at the back of the scrum.
He was among the players invited to the Springboks’ first alignment camp of the year in Cape Town this week, a clear sign that he remains part of the bigger picture.
