Argentina have suffered a double injury setback ahead of their Rugby Championship rematch against the Springboks at Twickenham on Saturday.
Flyhalf Tomas Albornoz and scrumhalf Gonzalo Garcia have both been ruled out, forcing coach Felipe Contepomi into making late changes to his touring squad.
Gonzalo Bertranou and Nicolas Roger have been drafted in as replacements and will link up with the Pumas in London.
Albornoz, who only just returned from a hand injury, came off the bench to score in last week’s 67-30 demolition at the hands of the Boks in Durban. But the 26-year-old’s luck ran out when he suffered a fresh setback and will play no part on Saturday.
Garcia, meanwhile, is sidelined after a heavy collision with teammate Guido Petti left him concussed in the dying stages at King’s Park.
CONTEPOMI: You don’t want Sacha to play
The disruptions are hardly ideal for Argentina, who are already out of contention in this year’s competition, while the Boks head into the Twickenham clash with the title on the line.
The Boks top the standings after emphatic back-to-back wins over the All Blacks and Pumas, and Rassie Erasmus’ men will be favourites to seal the crown against a depleted Argentina side still reeling from their Durban drubbing.
