The Stormers are set to welcome back an influential member in the pack for a two-match Vodacom URC tour to the northern hemisphere.
Forwards coach Rito Hlungwani on Monday confirmed that club captain and lock Salmaan Moerat is back in training after serious toe injury.
The Stormers face Ulster in Belfast on Friday night, followed by a trip to Cardiff to close out their regular URC season fixtures. John Dobson’s men top the standings and will look to defend their position to secure home-ground advantage for the playoffs.

“We just had a split session and he was getting stuck in,” Hlungwani told the media. “He did some scrumming and live mauls, so he’s coming back slowly. We’ll see how he goes for the rest of the week.”
Moerat’s return will be a timely boost, as fellow skyscraper JD Schickerling (knee) is ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
“JD is out for the season, which we all know,” Hlungwani said. “So having someone like Salmaan coming back would obviously help us with depth.”
Hlungwani said the coaching staff will be monitoring Moerat’s recovery throughout this week.
