The Vodacom Bulls have moved to lock down the heart of their pack, confirming long-term contract extensions for two influential loose forwards.
In a clear show of intent, the Bulls have secured Marco van Staden until June 2028, while Mpilo Gumede has committed to a five-year deal that will keep him at Loftus Versfeld until 2029.

The double World Cup-winning Van Staden remains a cornerstone of the Pretoria side, bringing his trademark physicality and breakdown dominance to a pack that continues to evolve under head coach Johan Ackermann.
Having recently reached the 100-cap milestone for the Bulls, the flanker’s influence stretches beyond the field, anchoring both performance and leadership within the squad.
Alongside him, Gumede represents the next phase of the Bulls’ build.
Since arriving from the Sharks in 2023, the 25-year-old has grown into a regular and one of the most dynamic loose forwards in the country. His versatility and impact have made him a key figure in the team’s long-term planning.
