Italian legend Sergio Parisse will return to the national setup later this year after being appointed assistant forwards coach for the Azzurri.
The 42-year-old will leave his role as lineout coach at Toulon at the end of the Top 14 season, to link up with Italy ahead of the Nations Championship.
Parisse will reunite with Italy head coach Gonzalo Quesada, under who he enjoyed success during his playing days at Stade Francais, including the 2014-15 Top 14 title.

“Returning to Italy and being able to contribute from within the FIR to the growth of the national team and the entire rugby movement in my country is an extraordinary opportunity,” Parisse said in a statement.
“I’m delighted to be able to do so alongside a coach I worked with during my years as a player at Stade Francais and whom I have profound respect for, Gonzalo Quesada.
“I thank Toulon for these years together and I’m determined to complete my commitment to the club until the end of the Top 14.”
Parisse, widely regarded as one of Italy’s greatest players, will step into the role as the Azzurri prepare for a demanding international schedule.
Italy open their Nations Championship campaign against Japan on 4 July before travelling to face the All Blacks a week later.
Their tour concludes with a clash against the Wallabies on 18 July.
