Trump’s comments come on the same day that gas prices in the US jumped past an average of $4 for the first time since 2022 as fuel prices continue to spike worldwide.
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday expressed his frustration towards allies that have been unwilling to help the US reopen the Iran-controlled Strait of Hormuz by force, stating that countries upset by high fuel prices should “go get your own oil”.

“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the USA won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The US president also said they should buy jet fuel from the US because “we have plenty”.
Trump’s comments come on the same day that gas prices in the US jumped past an average of $4 (€3.48) for the first time since 2022 as fuel prices continue to spike worldwide.
According to motor club AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is now $4.02, over a dollar more than before the war began on 28 February.
The last time US drivers were collectively paying this much at the pump was nearly four years ago, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Iran launched missiles across the Middle East earlier on Tuesday in response to fresh Israeli strikes on the capital Tehran, hours after Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said more than half of his military aims had been achieved.
“It’s definitely beyond the halfway point. But I don’t want to put a schedule on it,” Netanyahu told US broadcaster Newsmax.
Sirens rang out in Jerusalem as Israel’s military said it had responded to fresh Iranian missiles, while local Iranian media reported new explosions in Tehran that caused “power outages in parts” of the capital.
Iranian media also reported that initial investigations indicated strikes in central Iran had hit some “military sites.”
More Iranian attacks across the Gulf
Iran fired more missiles at Gulf nations, as falling debris from intercepted projectiles wounded four people in Dubai, while a Kuwaiti oil tanker in the city’s port caught fire.
In Saudi Arabia, authorities said they intercepted eight ballistic missiles, hours after Iran’s top diplomat called on Riyadh to “eject US forces.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi insisted that Tehran’s attacks on the Gulf states only target US forces, even after assaults have hit civilian targets throughout the region.
“Iran respects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and considers it a brotherly nation,” he wrote on X, sharing a photo purportedly showing damage to a US aircraft at Prince Sultan Air Base in the kingdom.
“Our operations are aimed at enemy aggressors who have no respect for Arabs or Iranians, nor can provide any security.”
