Junior Bok lock adds bite to SWD pack

The SWD Eagles have bolstered their ranks with two battle-hardened loanees ahead of the SA Cup kick-off in George.

Netwerk24 reports that former Junior Springbok lock Dylan de Leeuw and scrumhalf Tiaan Fourie have linked up with Heyneke Meyer’s troops, adding punch and pedigree to the squad.

De Leeuw, 24, is contracted to the Lions, while Fourie is on the books of the Sharks. Both arrive with valuable URC and Challenge Cup experience and are expected to play key roles as SWD open their campaign against the Pumas on Friday.

De Leeuw has already featured in warm-up fixtures and brings a strong CV. The former Paul Roos pupil turned out for the Bulls in last year’s Currie Cup before moving to Johannesburg, and has also represented Italian outfit Zebre Parma. A former SA U20 representative, he shared a Junior Bok changeroom with some of the country’s brightest young talents.

Fourie, 23, adds spark at scrumhalf. The Grey College old boy has played Currie Cup rugby in Durban and represented the Sharks in the URC and Europe, while also boasting SA Schools Sevens colours.
