Scots rocked by triple injury blow

Scotland’s preparations for their Six Nations trip to Cardiff have been hampered by injuries to three key players.

Scottish Rugby confirmed that flank Jamie Ritchie (knee), No 8 Jack Dempsey (bicep) and winger Jamie Dobie (shoulder) all picked up injuries during the win over England at Murrayfield.

Ritchie, who impressed on his return to the starting XV after missing the opening defeat to Italy in Rome, did not reappear after half-time. Dempsey was forced off shortly before the hour mark, while Dobie limped off in the 75th minute.

The potential absence of the trio leaves coach Gregor Townsend with significant selection calls.

On the blindside, Matt Fagerson or Scott Cummings appear the most straightforward options. If Dempsey is ruled out, Fagerson may shift to No 8.

Out wide, Darcy Graham is the obvious replacement after recent appearances off the bench, while Duhan van der Merwe remains a powerful alternative.
