The Trump administration has framed the initiative as a challenge to the pharmaceutical industry’s pricing power.

US President Donald Trump has launched a new government website aimed at reducing prescription drug costs for Americans.

The White House announced TrumpRx.gov on Thursday, featuring more than 40 medications from five pharmaceutical companies that reached pricing agreements with the administration: AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, EMD Serono, Novo Nordisk, and Pfizer.

“You’re going to save a fortune,” Trump said. “This is also so good for overall healthcare.”

How does it work?

The site promises “the world’s lowest prices on prescription drugs” and showcases popular medications, including weight-loss treatments like Ozempic and Wegovy.

Users can search for their medication, print a coupon, and present it at a pharmacy to receive the discounted price.

The government-hosted website does not sell medications directly. Instead, it acts as a facilitator, directing Americans to drugmakers’ direct-to-consumer websites or providing coupons for pharmacy purchases.

“Patients will be able to access large discounts on many of the most popular and highest-priced medicines in the country, paying prices in line with the lowest paid by other developed nations,” the White House said.

The Trump administration has framed the initiative as a challenge to the pharmaceutical industry’s pricing power.

“President Trump is delivering on promises to ensure American patients no longer pay high prices to subsidise low prices in the rest of the world, something the political establishment did not believe was possible,” the website states.
