Double boost for Ireland ahead of Bok blockbuster

Two British & Irish Lions return to fitness for Ireland as they prepare to take on the world champion Springboks in Dublin on Saturday.

Garry Ringrose and Josh van der Flier have been given the green light, but the hosts will be without injured centre Stuart McCloskey.

FARRELL: Boks have been brilliant

The influential midfield star has been ruled out after suffering a recurrence of the groin injury that forced him off during the first half of Ireland’s 46-19 win over Australia. His exit saw Bundee Aki called into action, and the veteran centre is now primed to partner Garry Ringrose, who has recovered from a hamstring strain.

Van der Flier, also back from a hamstring issue, is expected to slot straight into Andy Farrell’s match-day plans as Ireland brace for a full-throttle Dublin clash with the world champions.

There was further good news up front, with Leinster prop Thomas Clarkson clearing his head-injury protocols and set to train fully this week.

MORE: Ireland have the Boks’ number

Ireland head into their final November international having bounced back from a loss to New Zealand in Chicago with wins over Japan and Australia. Now, with key personnel returning, they face their sternest test of the campaign against a Bok side on a rampage.
